THE LONG WAY HOMe

A Dedication to Arthur Mitchell

Set in current day East Harlem, The Long Way Home depicts the life of Jay (18) as he navigates the unforgiving streets of New York City.

His circumstances, compounded by a less than ideal living situation, further fuel him to ward off all self-doubt on his quest for solace.

Artistic Statement

I'd be remiss if I didn't begin this statement by saying that this film is an amalgamation of several realities; one being the man to whom it is dedicated; Arthur Mitchell. I am inspired by the audacity with which he lived his life, and his contributions to the arts, in my opinion, are instrumental and should be more widely celebrated and explored.

This film is also a reflection of my reality growing up in The Bronx, but more broadly, about the quest of artists of diverse backgrounds who often battle with self-doubt fueled by existential circumstance. It is often the case that the art itself acts as an escape from the happenings of the world for the artist creating it. That narrative is strong within this film, and is one that I believe will resonate with creatives.

Thank You,
